Privacy Policy

Effective July 23, 2026

Froget processes the data needed to synchronize your purchases, households, pantry, recipes, club cards, payments, optional AI features, and personalized recommendations. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or track you across apps.

Controller

The controller is David Havlin (Slovakia). Processing is governed by the GDPR and the laws of the Slovak Republic.

Legal Basis

We process the data required for your account, synchronization, purchases, and security to provide the service and on our legitimate interest in protecting it. Optional location, notifications, dietary profile, and personalization are based on your own choice; you can turn any permission or feature off at any time.

Account and Sign-In

We use Sign in with Apple to sign you in. Your Apple identifier, name, and email are used solely to create your account, synchronize data, and enable household sharing. We do not store a password.

Shopping and Household Data

Lists, items, purchase state, your pantry, stores, recipes, households, and their edits are stored with our backend provider, Convex. Data in a shared household is visible to its members. Personal notes and your own photos are not published in the global product catalog.

Receipts and Photos

We store photographed receipts and product photos to turn them into shopping items and spending overviews. You can delete receipts and photos at any time.

Club Cards

If you save a club card, we process its name, barcode, and an optional photo so it can be shown at checkout and linked to a store. You can edit or delete a card at any time.

Dietary Profile

You provide allergens, intolerances, diet, goals, cooking level, and preferences voluntarily. They are used only to tailor AI assessments and recipes to you. We do not share them with other household members or publish them in the product catalog.

Personalization and Profiling

If you activate "For You", we build derived insights and recommendations from your confirmed receipts, lists, purchases, pantry, stores, recipes, and your feedback. You can pause learning and delete the personalization memory directly in the app. Personalization is not used for advertising or for decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

AI Processing (OpenAI)

For Smart Add, pantry scanning, receipt reading, recipe import and creation, and the optional generation of personalized insights, the relevant text, image, or summary is sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI processes it as a service provider; these features are optional, and requests are configured so the data is not used to train models.

Product Catalog (Open Food Facts)

When you scan a barcode, the code is looked up in the Open Food Facts database. Their product data is used under the Open Database License (ODbL). Your personal data is not sent to Open Food Facts.

Location

We use your location only if you allow it: to preselect the nearest store and to notify you when you arrive at a store (geofencing). You save store coordinates yourself, and you can turn off location access at any time in system settings.

Notifications

For push notifications about store arrival, stock levels, and personalized recommendations, we store a device token and send them through the Apple Push Notification service. You can disable notifications entirely or by individual type.

Payments and Purchases

Coins and Premium are purchased in the app through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we receive only the transaction identifier, product, and subscription state needed to credit coins or activate Premium. We never see or store your payment-card details.

Analytics and Diagnostics

We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to measure app usage, stability, and errors. We send screen names, technical events, an installation identifier, and diagnostic data without the contents of your lists, receipts, photos, or error text that could contain user input. We do not use this data for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Providers and Transfers

To operate the service we use Convex for the database and synchronization, image storage, OpenAI for optional AI processing, Apple for sign-in, purchases, and notifications, Google Firebase for analytics and diagnostics, and Open Food Facts for product data. These providers process only the data needed for their function; where processing takes place outside the EEA, the provider's safeguards apply under the applicable rules.

Retention and Deletion

We keep your data while your account is active or until you delete it. After you delete your account, your personal data is removed; content shared with a household may remain available to its other members. To prevent purchased coins from expiring and signup-bonus abuse, we retain only a one-way fingerprint of the Apple identity and the coin balance. The balance is restored when you sign in again with the same Apple account.

Your Rights

You have the right to information, access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to processing. You can withdraw consent or disable an optional feature without affecting prior processing. You can delete your account and data in Settings, and you may also contact the Slovak Data Protection Authority.

Children

Froget is not intended for children under 16. If we learn that we obtained a child's data without the required consent, we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. We will announce material changes in the app and update the effective date above.
